Hotel 626 is the best horror game you've never played and unfortunately, given that it is no longer available in any playable form, it's also the best horror game you're never going to play.

In order to play either game, they have to be played specifically around 6 PM - 6 AM (though it is possible to play it anytime by simply changing the internal clock of your computer). The first game has you running around the haunted hotel to escape the place while you encounter and deal with hostile entities along the way.
While it was active, it was only available from 6pm to 6am. Some links I found suggested changing the computer clock to enable the game. This did not work for me. The most recent link I can find that still claimed the game was active was from around Halloween 2011.
