23 Ιουλ 2023 · PLOP calculates the surface errors for a horizontal mirror only but has the capability, via the built-in 3-D Z88 modelling package, to calculate the effects on the surface error of different edge support arrangements and different telescope tilts.
PLate OPtimizer, or PLOP is a CAD program used by amateur telescope makers to design primary mirror support cells for reflecting telescopes. It was developed by telescope maker David Lewis, first described in 1999, [ 1 ] and used to simplify calculations needed in the design of mirror support cells. [ 2 ]
This is the repository for plop. Download the gui_plop_setup_3_0_7.exe from the release and execute it. Current version is 3.0.7. https://github.com/davidlewistoronto/plop/releases/download/3.0.7/gui_plop_setup_3_0_7.exe. If you just want to learn more about plop, download the manual in the link.
Here is my Best of 18 and Over Collection. No, it's not X-rated; it's a collection of mirror cell designs with 18 or more points of support for David Lewis's Plop program. Most of this collection will be "over-kill" for the majority of situations.
To design a mirror cell that will make your mirror perform at its very best, follow this procedure: Use the program PLOP to optimize the back support for the mirror pointing to the zenith. Use this Mirror Edge Support Calculator to analyze the edge support for the mirror pointing to the horizon.
21 Αυγ 2013 · Can anyone suggest how do I optimize primary mirror cell for cassegrain telescope using plop? My mirror is 330mm F4 with 90mm hole made of Astrosital. The mirror will be center hole mounted on 6 or 9 points mirror cell.
28 Ιουν 2015 · Running Gui_Plop software for a 250mm x 40mm mirror with 3, 6, 9 and 18 point support produced the following: The colours in the graphics show deviation from perfect support. [Green] Blue shows raised areas close to the support points. While red shows the mirror sagging away from the supports.
