What is AC Grade Plywood – How It’s Different from BC? The term plywood applies to engineered lumber that consists of at least three layers and often more. The faces of the layers are oriented 90 degrees from the previous layer to add strength and durability.

Coming to the different grades of plywood, there are four major grades for the front face and back face, respectively. The four respective categories are the letters A, B, C, and D. Each grade will be composed of two grades. For instance, we would write on the plywood, AB, AC, and so on.

AC plywood is a versatile building material commonly used in both indoor and outdoor projects. It is characterized by having one side graded “A,” which is smooth and paintable, and the other side graded “C,” which has some visible defects and is typically used where appearance is less important.
16 Ιαν 2011 · Plywood graded A-C has one premium side and one side with visible defects, streaks and or knots. A-C plywood is perfect for cabinet doors and jambs, architectural shelving and all-purpose woodworking. The A side is consistent and defect-free.
Plywood may be AA with high quality and appearance on both sides, AB, AC, through to DD, or utility grade on both sides. Plywood may also have an ‘X’ after the letter grades to denote that the plywood can be exposed to some moisture.
