Preah Vihear Temple (Khmer: ប្រាសាទព្រះវិហារ Prasat Preah Vihear; Thai: ปราสาทพระวิหาร; RTGS: Prasat Phra Wihan) is an ancient Hindu temple built by the Khmer Empire, located on top of a 525-metre (1,722 ft) cliff in the Dângrêk Mountains, in the Preah Vihear province of Cambodia.

Head out on this 1.3-mile loop trail near Kantharalak, Sisaket. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 45 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding and walking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime.
Preah Vihear is truly an outstanding masterpiece of Khmer architecture; very ‘pure’ both in plan and in the detail of its decoration. The temple has four levels and four courtyards which comprise of five Gopuras (entrance pavilions). The third level was the Palace Building.
