There is an IBM (free) QUSRTOOL to save/restore spooled file (SAVRSTSPLF) that requires an ILE C compiler. The SAVRSTSPLF tool provides a method for saving spooled files into a designated library (or device) and to restore and print them at a later time.

31 Ιαν 1990 · Spool files can really waste space on your disk. The AS/400 stores spooled file data in physical file members in QSPL library. The members remain on the system even after printing and are removed only if they are not used after seven IPLs. Only up to 200 members are removed during an IPL.
