Artistic Staff & Leadership. Frank Chaves. Originally from Havana by way of Miami, Chaves joined River North Dance Chicago in 1993 as Associate Director, and became Co-Artistic Director with Sherry Zunker in 1994. In May 2001, Chaves assumed sole Artistic Directorship of RNDC.
River North was the first dance company to perform at the world class Harris Theater for Music and Dance. Touring increases significantly, including the first international tour to Germany. WTTW aired its third TV special on RNDC titled “Every Dancer Has a Story” garnering a fourth Emmy.

In 1995, River North Dance Chicago was the first dance company to perform on the Dorothy Menker Theater stage, and they have appeared here 10 times over our two decades. The company returns with an evening of their eclectic, dynamic, jazz-based contemporary repertoire.
