Shell plc, the global energy company, has changed its name from Royal Dutch Shell plc, effective from January 21, 2022. The name change is part of the Simplification process that aims to create a more agile and resilient organisation.
The merger with Royal Dutch signalled a period of rapid expansion as Shell (the Group’s name quickly became shortened to Shell) opened operations throughout Europe and in many parts of Asia. There was also substantial exploration and production in Russia, Romania, Venezuela, Mexico and the US.

21 Ιαν 2022 · Shell announced the name change on Dec. 20, 2021, as part of its plan to scrap its dual share structure and move its head office to London. The change will not affect share ownership and will take effect on Jan. 25 for London and Amsterdam, and Jan. 31 for New York.
