Jubilee is a new opera by Tazewell Thompson that tells the story of the Fisk Jubilee Singers, who spread African American spirituals around the world after the Civil War. The opera features over 40 spirituals, such as "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" and "Deep River", and runs from October 12 to 26, 2024 at McCaw Hall.
