Catan, previously known as The Settlers of Catan or simply Settlers, is a multiplayer board game designed by Klaus Teuber. It was first published in 1995 in Germany by Franckh-Kosmos Verlag (Kosmos) as Die Siedler von Catan (pronounced [diː ˈziːdlɐ fɔn kaˈtaːn]).
In this expansion, you build ships for your settlers' new adventures at sea and set sail for your journey to new shores. As in the well-known board game, you are a seafarer in search of undiscovered islands and rare treasures - but watch out for the pirates!
In CATAN (formerly The Settlers of Catan), players try to be the dominant force on the island of Catan by building settlements, cities and roads. On each turn dice are rolled to determine which resources the island produces.
