13 Απρ 2010 · "He is in a shower" is acceptable grammar, but not common usage. Better would be "He is in THE shower." In "a" shower could imply he is outside in the rain. Or he is in some kind of mental state poetically described as being "in a shower" ... Or he is in an unspecified location, in an unspecified bathing area.

Personally, I find “they [each] take a shower” or, better still, “they take their shower” more natural than “they take showers”. And the context makes a difference. In a list of things people do in a certain situation, a plural noun would be fine.

11 Ιουλ 2013 · J'ai appris que si on mettait "already" dans une phrase, on devait utiliser le present perfect mais pourquoi alors on dit "I already took a shower" et non pas "I've already taken a shower"? Si on réfléchit bien, avoir pris une douche influe sur le présent puisque on est tout propre quand on le dit. Merci d'éclairer ma lanterne,

15 Ιουν 2007 · I have a HUGE doubt. If you are showering (cleaning yourself) would you say you were TAKING a shower or HAVING a shower. For example: I was taking a shower when the phone rang. OR I was having a shower when the phone rang. Thank you! Lucia
