One might say: I'd like to go playing squash. or : I'd like to go skating. or: I'd like to go playing tennis or : I'd like to go playing football, soccer, basketball, volleyball etc or : I'd like to go running the marathon.

28 Νοε 2006 · The tennis court at Versailles was a building, not an outdoor court as used for lawn tennis. The Assembly gathered in that building. EDIT Just a point to add, the game played in the Versailles court was originally a game without rackets which became real tennis. Lawn tennis began about 100 years later.

Hello, Could someone tell me if all of the following options are correct and which would be preferable in British English? 1) I prefer playing football to tennis. 2) I prefer playing football than tennis. 3) I prefer playing football rather than tennis. Or would it be best to say I prefer playing football to playing tennis?

Negative statements don't follow the same patterns as positive statements. "I haven't played tennis for years" is a common way to say that you used to play tennis but haven't done so ...
