This question is a bit old but it had me stumped for a while. Here's what I did to get a copy of the TnvViewer 'OptionsFile': Open/Load TightVnc Viewer on my Windows 10 PC; ie connect to the other PC.

thanks, as I said I have created users and set them password both on terminal (passwd) and VNC (vncpasswd) so passwords are set already. but I have choosen 9 letter passwords. you said that VNC ignore then the last letter, but does the VNC viewer ignore it also when I put that 9-letters long passwords when logging? restarting by: service vncserver restart doesn't remove the lockout: still have ...

26 Μαΐ 2020 · I've gotten around this limitation by connecting to my work PC using TightVNC, then logging in as a remote user, and this workaround functions great when I have a monitor connected to my work PC. But this solution stops working when I make my work PC headless (ie no monitor, keyboard, or mouse connected).
27 Μαΐ 2016 · I am trying to use TightVNC to connect to a computer at work through a SSH Tunnel. I am using PUTTY to create the tunnel. I am on a Windows 10 Home computer and trying to connect to a Windows 2008 R2 Server. I can connect using PUTTY to the SSH, but when I try and connect through VNC it gives me:
"C:\Program Files\TightVNC\tvnviewer.exe" 10.0.1.11::5900. Obviously change 10.0.1.11 to whatever IP address you want to control. Also go to the General tab and change the name of the shortcut to something appropriate like "Connect to Laptop" or "My Mac", etc. Tested on my Windows 8.1 Pro PC with TightVNC 2.7.10.0.

It does not work for me. Just tested. This remote resolution driven size of client windows is supported by some VNC clients, like TigerVNC, but not TightVNC or RealVNC (free version). I've just tested it with RealVNC Viewer 6.19.715 and TightVNC Viewer for Windows 2.8.23. –
