Total Gym is Dishonest. Last week, I received a letter from Total Gym giving me a $1400 credit toward their XLS model. For the last 2 months, the XLS total gym has been on sale for $1,099.99. I called Total Gym and they told me that I would have to pay $799 for the Total Gym, which made no sense, since I had a $1400 gift certificate.

I've had two friends who swore free weights were all they'd ever use, and now they have Total Gyms adding to their particular brand of workout. As with any workout, however, it will be what you make of it using your determination and sweat.

There are two big reasons you might NOT want to get a TotalGym. The first is that you can get a similar workout with $100 worth of dumbbells. The other is that if you want to build serious muscle then you'll end up maxing out the TotalGym fairly soon.
