The Nantahala National Forest (/ ˌ n æ n t ə ˈ h eɪ l ə /) is the largest of the four national forests in North Carolina, lying in the mountains and valleys of western North Carolina. The Nantahala is the second wettest region in the country, after the Pacific Northwest.
The NNF is the largest of the four national forests in North Carolina. Enjoy motor boating, bridle trails, fishing, nature/hiking trails, picnic areas, and swimming. One of the NNF's many attractions, Whitewater Falls near Cashiers, is the highest falls east of the Mississippi.
