USS Simpson (FFG-56) is an Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided missile frigate of the United States Navy, named for Rear Admiral Rodger W. Simpson.
USS SIMPSON was the 46 th PERRY class frigate and the first ship in the Navy named after Rear Admiral Rodger Whitten Simpson. USS SIMPSON held a decommissioning ceremony at her homeport of Mayport, Fla., on September 29, 2015, and was formally decommissioned one day later.
