The Civil Process Division of the Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office is tasked with executing evictions, repossessions, levies, and sheriff sales. As a public service, the Sheriff's Office provides online lookups for the general public to view an existing paper's service status.
Our mission is to provide for the public safety of the citizens of Virginia Beach, through the efficient and professional operations of the Sheriff's Office as provided for in the Constitution and the Code of Virginia. Additional Information. Americans with Disabilities Act. Accreditation & Inspections. Records Requests/Freedom Of Information Act.
The process will be served by the Sheriff where the person resides, regardless of which court issued the process. Let's say the person being served lived in Norfolk but a Virginia Beach court issued the process, the plaintiff would call the Norfolk Sheriff's Office to inquire about service.
Searching for Papers. Papers served by Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office are available to be searched by the general public. You must know BOTH the Case Number and the last name of a person associated with the paper. The person may be the plaintiff, defendant, or deponent.
Our duties include operating the Virginia Beach Correctional Center, providing Virginia Beach Courthouse security and serving civil process throughout the city.
Sheriff's Role in the Civil Process. The website for the Virginia Beach Sheriff offers information on their role in the civil process: The Levy Booklet details the "Steps to collect your money after judgment has been obtained by use of the Writ of Fieri Facias."
