Cain [a] is a biblical figure in the Book of Genesis within Abrahamic religions. He is the elder brother of Abel, and the firstborn son of Adam and Eve, the first couple within the Bible. [1] He was a farmer who gave an offering of his crops to God. However, God was not pleased and favored Abel's offering over Cain's.
In the biblical Book of Genesis, Cain [ a ] and Abel [ b ] are the first two sons of Adam and Eve. [ 1 ] Cain, the firstborn, was a farmer, and his brother Abel was a shepherd. The brothers made sacrifices, each from his own fields, to God. God had regard for Abel's offering, but had no regard [ 2 ] for Cain's.

The eldest son of Cain (Ge 4:17), who called the city which he built after his name (Ge 4:18). B.C. post 4041. It is there described as being east of Eden, in the land of Nod, to which Cain retired after the murder of his brother.
