I do not want to have to go through the trouble of having to learn something new to do something I have done for years with ease. I can install the software if I switch off 'S' mode.
7 Απρ 2024 · Without doing that, there's no way to even load up the store to get to the "Get Out of S Mode" application. So this whole experience is quite frustrating. You have to create a Microsoft account, even if you don't want one, in order to get to the store in order to at least have a hope of running "Get Out of S Mode" which doesn't even work after you do that.
4 Ιαν 2022 · Same issue. Brand new Lenovo laptop. updated to Windows 11. purchased for my kid who needs it for school and who wants to be able to play minecraft. Been through at least a dozen fixes. Keep getting the try again message when I click 'get' to upgrade the store and exit S mode. Either the fix comes in the next few days or the machine is going back.
16 Οκτ 2022 · If you have a Windows 11 in S mode edition installed, you will only be able to install apps from The Microsoft Store only. If you want to install an app that isn't available in the Microsoft Store, you'll need to switch out of S mode. Windows 11 in S mode is only available in the Windows 11 Home edition by default.
17 Οκτ 2024 · Windows 11 on a new laptop obviously stuck in s mode. Have followed all tips from possibly every message board out there but my problem seems different from a lot of others as the store page to get out of s mode doesn't seem to be there at all. All apps & programs up to date, caches cleared, pc restarted, different accounts tried.
27 Ιαν 2024 · Half of which don't work because I'm told they aren't supported software and to run them I need to switch out of S Mode!!! I can't even reset from a bootable USB as I cannot run the Media Creation Tool.

In Windows 11 in S Mode, Defender runs in the background and protects your PC, there is no method to perform manual scans, I think they do that because in S Mode, you can only install verified apps from the Microsoft Store, and therefore your PC is more secure, because 3rd party software cannot be installed in S Mode.
