3 Αυγ 2016 · I always check the winver version after updating Windows. However, this time I was presented with a surprise. Under "This product is licensed under the...", it only said "user name" and "org name". I thought the RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization values were screwed over by the update.
WINVER defines the minimum Windows system the program can run on. There's a more detailed explanation at MSDN. What #define WINVER 0x0501 means is that the program requires Windows XP or Server 2003 to run, and that it therefore can use Windows functionality up through that release.
7 Σεπ 2011 · It shows exactly what winver.exe shows next to "Version", it works for all versions of Windows 10 until 20h2, is fast and not too complex* I didn't expect to have to read so much to come up with this code and I really hope I will not have to tweak it for 22h1 (or what ever the name is at that time).

4 Οκτ 2020 · I bought a Surface Pro 3 many years ago and it has been through several OS updates/upgrades and continues to do so with no problems, however I noticed that the winver program displays an old e-mail address where it says "This product is licensed under the Microsoft Software Licence Terms to:" followed by the old address.
