However, the two are not interchangeable, unfortunately I don't think there's a rule to know when to use which. Both "with" and "on" work with "exams".
22 Αυγ 2005 · Here's my take on what it is: 'Belong to' describes ownership: the blue 1963 Ford Thunderbird belongs to me, the rusty 1989 Dodge belongs to you. It's the traditional sense of 'belong'. 'Belong with' describes similarity and where something should be categorised: in a library Dickens belongs with Hardy and Austen.

This structure is sometimes used when the text describing the object (i.e. what you want to share) is very long, because the normal structure would then place "share" and "with you" too far apart. You could say: I made a down payment (here/with you). I made a down payment (with you) last week. I have made a down payment on an item at a particular store.
