Rate of New Cases and Deaths per 100,000: The rate of new cases of brain and other nervous system cancer was 6.2 per 100,000 men and women per year. The death rate was 4.4 per 100,000 men and women per year. These rates are age-adjusted and based on 2017–2021 cases and 2018–2022 deaths.

Previously, brain and CNS cancers have been found to be in the top ten causes of death and the second leading cause of cancer deaths in adolescents [ 2 , 3 ].
Brain cancer incidence and mortality: 2019 results. Worldwide, 347,992 new cases of brain cancer were recorded in 2019: it was diagnosed in 187,491 (54%) males and 160,501 (46%) females (Fig. 1, Fig. 2). In 2019, the total number of deaths from brain cancer worldwide was 246,253 (138,605 males and 107,648 females).
This article provides an over-view of primary malignant and nonmalignant brain and other CNS tumor incidence, mortality, and survival rates and trends in the United States, as well as differences in occurrence by major histologic subtype, anatomic site, geography, race/ethnicity, and sex.
