top of page. What are my treatment options? Doctors use a variety of therapies to treat brain tumors. Treatment depends on tumor size, type, growth rate, brain location, and your general health. Treatment options include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, targeted biological agents, or a combination thereof.
Radiation therapy works by shrinking or killing the cancerous cells that make up a brain tumor. Your treatment team may recommend radiation therapy as a primary treatment for your tumor, or suggest it be combined with surgery, chemotherapy, or both.
