ECMWF HRES is a model that provides single prediction using observations and prior information about the Earth-system. It offers four forecast runs per day, hourly steps, and various products such as atmospheric fields, time series, tropical cyclones, and simulated satellite data.

5 Μαρ 2024 · ECMWF announces that it will discontinue the high-resolution forecast (HRES) and use the ensemble forecast (ENS) control run instead. The HRES and the ENS control will have the same horizontal resolution of 9 km and run for 15 days from October 2024.
HRES is a single forecast with horizontal resolution around 9 km that describes one possible weather evolution out to 10 days ahead. ENS is an ensemble of 51 forecasts with slightly altered initial conditions and physics that indicate the range of possible weather conditions out to 15 days ahead.
AIFS (ECMWF) is a deep learning-based system that uses ECMWF HRES analysis to generate forecasts for various meteorological parameters. See the charts for different variables and resolutions of AIFS (ECMWF) and compare them with ENS and other models.
Latest forecast. Simulated images (water vapour) and mean sea level pressure. The simulated water vapour images generally focus on the upper troposphere. These charts can often indicate dynamical forcing mechanisms (responsible for cyclogenesis) or convective development (related to potential instability)...
HRES is a single run forecast model with 9km horizontal and 137 vertical resolution, giving forecasts to Day15 based on 00UTC and 12UTC data times. It is coupled to the Wave and Dynamic Ocean models and provides detailed weather description, but not uncertainty or confidence.
Tue 29 Oct 2024 00 UTC (T+0) These charts are the most recent from the ECMWF's early-run high resolution (HRES) forecast. Select desired base time and valid time using the drop down menu. Base times cover the past five days. The drop-down menu is also used to select different map areas. Date/times can also be selected using the slider ...
