18 Φεβ 2023 · AAA games might cost a little but i use epic because of the free games. actually finished couple of games start to end on epic games . I got to know the experience. I might buy on epic store if that is the only place and i get game for cheap in the future. free games help in sampling the service i guess.

With ads you'd be happy if users installed the client at all. As Ian Cutress noted (not his original idea probably): if you apply game theory to advertising, it's a zero sum game.
With upcoming DLC, epic wants to keep people using the epic store for the upcoming dlc with actual maps Hitman 2016 was previously available as an epic games free when Hitman's exclusivity was announced, meaning IO knows how to use Epic Games to hype up the release of an upcoming product, like how Borderlands 3 being free helps them hype up Tiny Tina and her DLC
And that doesn't apply at all to single-player games, which is the majority of games given out for free. The only reason Epic does this is to bring people to Epic, and if they had enough people on Epic, they wouldn't give away games anymore. Devs just take the deals from Epic for money, they're not benefitted from giving away games for free.

29 Αυγ 2020 · GOG occasionally gives away free games. PS and Xbox both give away monthly sets of free games, and with Xbox those games are usually play-anywhere so you can play them on PC as well. Edit: Twitch also gives away free games to encourage streaming content.

By now, thanks to the free games, my Epic library is larger than Steam and I feel no hesitation to buy a game on whichever store has the better sale. I've noticed this in people around me too; people who swore they would never buy a game outside Steam have been buying games with Epic coupons during the current sale.
11 Οκτ 2020 · Hi, there is a Steam group called Free Games Finder that shares when Epic Games or Steam games are free. I utilize their twitter account with notifications but it looks like you can subscribe to an RSS feed of the steam group announcements. No way to narrow it down to only Epics free games though, or maybe your RSS client could.
