The gender pay gap in the EU stands at 12.7 % in 2021 and has only changed minimally over the last decade. It means that women earn 13.0 % on average less per hour than men.
Gender pay gap levels vary significantly across EU. For the economy as a whole [1], in 2022, women's gross hourly earnings were on average 12.7 % below those of men in the European Union (EU) and 13.2 % in the euro area.

There are large differences between member states: in 2021, the biggest gender pay gap was recorded in Estonia (20.5%), while the EU country with the lowest gender pay gap was Romania (3.6%). Luxembourg has closed the gender pay gap.
30 Μαρ 2023 · Women in the EU on average earn 13% less than men. End of pay secrecy: workers will have the right to information on pay in their category of work. Dissuasive penalties, including fines, for employers that do not comply with the rules. Companies will have to act if their gender pay gap is over 5%.
