The summit of Haleakalā is reached by the Haleakalā Highway, a ten-mile “driveway,” if you will, that zig-zag its way from the main entrance gates about 10 miles to the upper craters and viewing areas. Don’t be fooled by the distance – the ten miles is very slow going, twisting and turning with lots of pull offs.
