3.1 Signs in this standard are categorized according to their function as follows: a) MES – means of escape signs which provide escape route identification. b) EES – emergency equipment signs which provide use and location of first aid facilities and portable safety equipment.
These Guidelines apply to all shipborne navigational systems and equipment. The symbols listed in the appendix should be used for the display of navigation-related information to promote consistency in the symbol presentation on navigational equipment.
