The sacrifice of Iphigenia is immortalized on many different mediums. Vases are a common base for the story, but there are mosaics, paintings, and written works from every era illustrating the myth of Iphigenia.

King Agamemnon sacrifices his daughter Iphigenia to appease the wrath of the goddess Artemis (Roman Diana). The girl is dragged to the altar by a pair of soldiers. Her parents stand to either side, the grieving Clytemnestra on the left and father Agamemnon on the right.
14 Σεπ 2017 · In the fresco shown below, the defenseless, nude figure of Iphigenia is carried to her sacrifice by two men, her arms melodramatically raised in desperation towards her father, who stands to the left with his head bent and his hand covering his face.
This vase belongs to a select group of bowls decorated in relief with scenes from epic poetry and from Classical Greek tragedy. Depicted here are five scenes from Euripides's play Iphigenia at Aulis, including inscriptions that identify the figures.

Side A: Sacrifice of Iphigenia. In the center of the scene is a square altar with two steps. To the right of the altar stands Iphigenia; with her head bowed she looks up in trepidation at the altar. Her hair is loose and flowing over her shoulders and she wears armlets and a chiton.
