It extends from the epiglottis (namely the glossoepiglottic and pharyngoepiglottic folds) to the inferior aspect of the cricoid cartilage. Inferiorly, it continues as the cervical trachea. The larynx also forms part of the upper respiratory tract.

The laryngeal ventricle (v) is a slit-like opening between the false and true vocal cords (image far left). It is the anatomic landmark between supraglottis and glottis. The ventricle extends laterally and then cranially into the paraglottic space.

12 Απρ 2019 · Multidetector CT findings of the normal larynx are reviewed, and blunt laryngeal injuries including soft-tissue edema, hematoma, mucosal lacerations, cartilage fracture, cricoarytenoid dislocation, and vocal fold paralysis are presented.
Frequent indications for laryngeal imaging include cancer staging, suspected submucosal abnormalities, vocal cord paralysis, laryngeal trauma, and laryngotracheal stenosis. This article reviews the primary imaging modalities used for evaluation of, normal cross-sectional anatomy of, and radiologic features of common diseases of the larynx.
