I have a MacBook Pro 2020, this is what Apple suggests to do: “System Preferences, then click Sound. In the Sound Effects pane, use the “Play sound on startup” setting to turn the startup sound on or off.” This suggests there is a tick box that I can untick to remove the sound.

After some research, I read an article about how to TEMPORARILY mute the startup sound. It stated that I press and hold on the mute key whilst the computer booting. But I don’t have a mute button on the computer.
