Sign in to your account with your username and password. Open the text message and type the code from your text message into the Enter code box. Sign in using a security key at the lock screen. After you've registered your security key, select the security key image from the Windows 10 lock screen.

After the account.live.com page has opened, select Security & Privacy, go to More Security Settings, scroll down and select Set up two-step verification. You'll have the option to confirm your identity via email, phone or the Microsoft account App.
