The Monastery of Roussanou stands between the monasteries of St. Nicholaos Anapafsas and Varlaam on the way from Kastraki to Meteora. It is built on the most striking pinnacle and its complex of buildings covers the whole plateau of the steep rock in such a way that looks like a natural continuation of the rock.
In the center of the complex of the Holy Meteora there is the women’s monastery Rousanou, which covers the whole width of a small, steep cliff. Founded onto the ruins of older facilities (1529) by the brother monks and Saints Ioasaph and Maximus, who came from Ioannina.
