Hot Rod, later known as Rodimus Prime, is the tritagonist of the Transformers franchise. He is the main protagonist of the 1986 animated film, The Transformers: The Movie and the third season of the 1980s television series The Transformers.

Rodimus Prime, the last of the Primes in G1 (as the final bearer of the Matrix of leadership) remains well known as an intergalactic hero. One thing that both sides of this Autobot's identity have in common is their impatience - neither Hot Rod nor Rodimus Prime can stand to wait around when they could be doing something instead.
