For people with uncomplicated genital chlamydia, the WHO STI guideline suggests one of the following options: azithromycin 1 g orally as a single oral dose. doxycycline 100 mg orally twice a day for 7 days. or one of these alternatives: tetracycline 500 mg orally four times a day for 7 days. erythromycin 500 mg orally twice a day for 7 days.
Treat with the regimen recommended for adults (see above) erythromycin (0.5%) ophthalmic ointment in each eye in a single application at birth. ceftriaxone 25–50 mg/kg body weight by IV or IM in a single dose, not to exceed 250 mg.
Immediate treatment is not recommended for all sexual contacts of chlamydia but offer testing of exposed anatomical sites and await results.
