Tiziano Vecellio (Italian: [titˈtsjaːno veˈtʃɛlljo]; c. 1488/90[1] – 27 August 1576), [2] Latinized as Titianus, hence known in English as Titian (/ ˈtɪʃən / ⓘ TISH-ən), was an Italian Renaissance painter, [a] the most important artist of Renaissance Venetian painting. Titian is known above all for his remarkable use of color; his painterly approach was highly influential well into the seventeenth century.
