The phase diagram for toluene shows the phase behavior with changes in temperature and pressure. The curve between the critical point and the triple point shows the toluene boiling point with changes in pressure. It also shows the saturation pressure with changes in temperature.
13 Απρ 2022 · University of Maryland. As explained in Sec. 8.2, a phase diagram is a kind of two-dimensional map that shows which phase or phases are stable under a given set of conditions. This section discusses some common kinds of binary systems, and Sec. 13.3 will describe some interesting ternary systems.
The thermodynamic data for toluene have been evaluated and fit to a highly con strained, nonanalytic equation of state. Comparisons of the equation with the selected PVTand derived property data are given. Extensive tables are presented providing tabular values for coexisting liquid and vapor as well as for the single phase along isobars. The
Toluene phase diagram shown in Fig. 5 [6] illustrates its behavior with temperature and pressure changing. It also shows the saturation pressure with changes in temperature.

1.2 BINARY VLE PHASE DIAGRAMS Two types of vapor–liquid equilibrium diagrams are widely used to represent data for two-component (binary) systems. The first is a “temperature versus x and y” diagram (Txy). The x term represents the liquid composition, usually expressed in terms of mole fraction. The y term represents the vapor composition.
