11 Μαΐ 2023 · Beliefs and truth are two concepts that are closely intertwined, but have different implications for knowledge and understanding. On the one hand, beliefs can shape our understanding of the world, and this can be seen in the way we interpret events, form opinions, and make decisions.
13 Ιουν 2006 · A belief is true if and only if it is part of a coherent system of beliefs. To further the contrast with the neo-classical correspondence theory, we may add that a proposition is true if it is the content of a belief in the system, or entailed by a belief in the system.
I argue that the widely-held view that belief aims at the truth is false. I acknowledge that there is an important connection between truth and belief but propose a new way of interpreting that connection.
