The x and y-axis are two important lines of the coordinate plane. The x-axis is a horizontal number line and the y-axis is a vertical number line. These two axes intersect perpendicularly to form the coordinate plane. The x-axis is also called the abscissa and the y-axis is called the ordinate.
The x and y axis are axes in the Cartesian coordinate system. They are two perpendicular lines that form a coordinate plane (coordinate grid), where the location of a point on the plane can be represented as a coordinate of the form (x,y) .
Use these graphs to plot pairs of X and Y data points. They’re perfect for visualizing the relationship between two continuous variables. For example, in the graph below, the X axis represents height, and the Y axis denotes weight. Each dot’s (X, Y) coordinate represents an individual’s height and weight combination.

6 Ιουν 2024 · The x-axis and y-axis are crucial components of the coordinate plane, with the x-axis serving as a horizontal number line and the y-axis as a vertical number line. They intersect at right angles to create the coordinate plane. The x-axis is referred to as the abscissa, while the y-axis is known as the ordinate.
