amazon renewed is a scam 100%, look at reviews for the sellers they use. they're never more than 60% rated at 5 stars. Every listing is a lie and they sell beat up and heavily used devices as "new". sad that the US is suing apple right now instead of these legitimate scam companies

As long as you're purchasing from the authorized Apple store on Amazon and not a 3rd party seller, you should be OK. You can buy AppleCare from Apple directly after the purchase (from an authorized reseller).
