31 Μαΐ 2024 · Jim Kierstead's 1939 Mercury Coupe of Inglewood, California. Jim's Mercury was restyled by Barris Kustoms, and it is rumored to be the first 1939 - 1940 Mercury coupe that the Barris Brothers chopped. The build was started in 1945 and completed in 1947.

1939 Mercury coupe restyled by Barris Kustoms for Jim Kierstead of Inglewood, California. Jim served on a submarine during World War II , and he bought the Merc after he got out of the Navy in 1945 .
Only a handful of genuinely 'pre-war' California customs survives today—and among them, almost none exist as originally executed. A marvelous exception is this striking chopped-top 1940 Mercury. Customized right after it was delivered to its first owner in late 1939, this was the first 1940 custom Merc convert in the greater Los Angeles area.

15 Φεβ 2005 · In every detail. I'm going for the Zaro/Andril chop, keeping the 1/4 window style, but moving the front windshield (it's a must on 39/40 mercs). I'm partial to both the Zaro/Andril and Jimmy Summers mercs. Of course the Matranga is another step up for 40's kustoms.
