The easiest way to determine whether or not your 1943 Cent has collectible value—to see if it is possibly bronze rather than steel—is simply to test it with a magnet. If the coin is magnetic, then it is, unfortunately, the common steel version and is not valuable in most cases.

But the finest known examples of Philadelphia 1943 steel pennies are graded half a point higher, at MS68+. The PCGS has certified three coins at this level, and one of those was presented at auction in 2020.

A quick glance at eBay shows where uncirculated BU rolls of 50 1943 steel pennies are only selling for $50 to $100 per roll. So we are talking about mint state steel wheat back cents only being worth $1 to $2 each.
