In 1943, the Philadelphia Mint coined 20 Bronze/Copper Pennies without mint marks. Being a copper-based coin, it’s color-graded RD for red, RB for reddish-brown, and BN for brown. Type: Bronze/Copper Wheat Penny

If the coin is magnetic, then it is, unfortunately, the common steel version and is not valuable in most cases. However, if your 1943 Cent does NOT stick to a magnet, this coin may possibly be genuine and should be researched further.

26 Μαρ 2024 · If you get the Philadelphia 1943 steel penny, it has no mint mark. All the 1943 steel pennies that the San Francisco mint made have the mark “S.” As for the ones from Denver, they have the mint mark “D.”
