The Toyota 2000GT is a limited-production front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive, two-door, two-seat sports car/grand tourer designed by Toyota in collaboration with Yamaha. First displayed to the public at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1965, the 2000GT was manufactured under contract by Yamaha between 1967 and 1970.

1 Ιαν 2020 · The M-series straight six engine fitted to the 2000 GT was based on the flagship Toyota Crown powerplant. In the pursuit of greater output, the Crown unit was substantially modified. Most significant was the presence of a special Yamaha-designed aluminium twin cam head with wide 79° valves and hemispherical combustion chambers.
The steering was rack and pinion, and the engine has been converted to DOHC based on the M-type engine for the crown, combining Yamaha’s technical strength. The 2000GT boasted 150 HP, compared with about 50 HP for a typical passenger car of the time. Production was discontinued in 1970.
