30 Μαρ 2018 · Ethernet minimum packet size is 64 bytes for 10/100M but 512 bytes for 1000M. Minimum packet size is chosen on the basis that in case of half duplex, the sender should be able to detect collision before it finishes sending the frame.
Minimally, a frame must contain at least 46 bytes of data, even if this means the host has to pad the frame before transmitting it. The reason for this minimum frame size is that the frame must be long enough to detect a collision; we discuss this more below. Finally, each frame includes a 32-bit CRC.
