The Temple Dedicated. A. Dedication by God and man. 1. (2 Chronicles 7:1-3) The temple is dedicated by God with fire from heaven. When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.
The Lord speaks to Solomon, demonstrating His desire to bless and protect His people. But the permanence of His presence would require total dedication to Him and a change of old habits, as stated in 2 Chronicles 7:14.

When Israel had sinned, forgiveness and healing were dependent on humble repentance. Israel had plenty of opportunity to put this to the test, but seldom actually carried through with it.
