The second chapter of 2 Peter stands as a cautionary tale against the dangers of false prophets and teachers. Written by the apostle Peter, this chapter underscores the implications of being led astray by misleading doctrines and highlights the dire consequences that await the unrighteous.

God has no latitude with Himself, so He cannot be lenient toward sin. God must judge sin or the sinner who will not accept His judgment of sin through Christ.
Peter with this verse cited some historical examples of God’s judgment and condemnation of the wicked (noting also that the righteous were spared), these being: (1) the example of the sinning angels; (2) the case of Noah and his generation; (3) the example of Sodom and Gomorrah; and (4) the deliverance of Lot.
