Peter with this verse cited some historical examples of God’s judgment and condemnation of the wicked (noting also that the righteous were spared), these being: (1) the example of the sinning angels; (2) the case of Noah and his generation; (3) the example of Sodom and Gomorrah; and (4) the deliverance of Lot.
17 Ιουν 1998 · God must judge sin or the sinner who will not accept His judgment of sin through Christ. The sin of “angels who sinned” was fornication with human beings. God must judge sin no matter how high the creature might be. If God does not spare a higher order of beings, He surely will not spare human beings.

What does 2 Peter 2:4 mean? Peter has just affirmed that the false teachers in the church will, ultimately, be condemned and destroyed by God. Here, he begins a series of "if" statements to make the case that God does indeed bring judgment upon those who rebel against Him.
