18 Ιουλ 2022 · Moving Open Chords. When you move an open chord up the neck the name of the chord changes and the chord gets extended with 1 or 2 notes. This way you can get beautiful sounds. While you can play barre chords at any fret on the fingerboard, open chords can only be played at certain frets.
In this guitar lesson we will visualize all of the notes in a C major triad on the fretboard, explore the chord on various string groups, and then apply these concepts to a chord-melody arrangement of the jazz standard “The World Is Waiting for the Sunrise.”
An example is Aadd9 played by X02420. But the general thing for finding your own new chord voicings is you definitely need to know all the notes that make up the chord, and all the intervals of the chords (9th, third, fifth, 11th, 13th). You also need to know the notes on the neck pretty well.
22 Οκτ 2022 · I recorded two more improvisation videos using different loops recorded with open chords shifted up the neck. My favorites are C shape and major and minor A shape. These two vids are rawer and there are some wrong notes here and there because I’m just experimenting to learn what works and having fun.
