In California, there is generally no requirement that you give your employer two weeks notice, or any notice for that matter, before quitting or terminating a job. Though employers who receive two weeks notice may be more likely to give you positive references in the future.

These penalties amount to one day’s wages for every day your final paycheck is late, up to a maximum of 30 days. Let’s say you make $200 a day, and your employer takes 10 days to pay you.
California law mandates that if an employee gives at least 72 hours’ notice, they are entitled to receive their final paycheck on their last day of work. If you do not give this notice, your employer has up to 72 hours to issue your final paycheck.
