Stine has turned this into a “game” for himself, as he writes until he reaches 2,000 words every day, and then stops writing no matter where he is in the story—mid-chapter, mid-sentence, whatever! 2,000 words are reached, and it’s time to stop writing.
Most of my chapters mostly end up being 2000 words, since after that point I'm either dragging on the story too long or I feel the urge to begin a new chapter. Still though, it seems that normally people have 3,500 - 5,000 word chapters and I feel maybe I'm not being descriptive enough.
There was a time when I struggled to even find enough words to write a 2000-word story. But after months and years of practice, and with some good planning, 2000 words is now lightwork. My advice is to outline your story as much as you can, and you'll hit that 2000-word mark pretty easily.
2000 words a day could be high for some people, or low for others. Personally, I've had days where I've written 200 words, and days where I've written 10,000. My personal recommendation would be to write for a time limit rather than a word count.
